John’s Place had great turn out for the 2016 Easter Egg Hunt held on Saturday March 26th. A total of 35 kids and 19 adults started to arrive at 10:30 am, baskets in hand, and full of excitement.
We had a movie playing, pictures to color and a brio train set to play with wating in the barn loft to keep the kids occupied before the start of the hunt.
By 11:00 the kids were moved outside, divided into smaller age groups by age, positioned at an age appropiate start line, and given the go ahead to get started.
It was such fun to see the kids scrambling all over the yard in search for eggs. Some eggs were very easy to find and other did have a bit of a challange, but nothing escaped the wisdon and ability of the egg hunters.
Each hunter was given instructions by Miss Kathy to find and take only 1 glitter egg. Inside the glitter egg was a tag with a number on it. That number coresponded with a “prize” awaiting them in the loft of the barn. Lots of giggles and some trading transpired until each hunter was satisified with their price.
But wait there’s more! After those prizes were distributed the kids proceeded to count the number of eggs they had found. Miss Kathy then gave out prizes for the most collected and the least collected in the different age groups.
David then had a parent write their last name on a tag and collected all the tags for a drawing for prizes awarded to the adults. Prizes ranged from gift cards to movies to a humming bird feeder.
So you thing we are done? Not yet….. A lunch was served consisting of sandwitches, salads, chips, and deserts. Every one ate and enjoyed the time together and we assume started making plans for how to get on the invite list for next years hunt…..
Special thanks to all our helpers, the John’s Place staff, and our freinds for their support.
